Jimmy the Groundhog takes a bite out of winter - and the Mayor's ear

A few years ago, Sun Prairie’s “Jimmy” the Groundhog made a literal mess of things when he decided to relieve himself on the mayor.

So this time around, Jimmy’s handlers and city officials were prepared for anything, right? Well, not exactly.

This year, Jimmy, who was placed close to Mayor Jon Freund’s ear so that Jimmy could communicate the prediction to him, took a small bite. You can watch the video at Channel 3000.

Jimmy made up for it, though: according to Freund, Jimmy didn’t see his shadow, which means an early spring for us.

Punxsutawney Phil, on the other hand, a more nationally-known groundhog, predicted six more weeks of winter in Pennsylvania.

Sorry, east coasters – looks like we’re getting to spring before you this year.
